She always wanted to
be a model.
Her first magazine
cover was back in April ’93, and came about when some of her
photographs shot by lensmen Suresh Natarajan fortuitously fell into
the hands of Suma Varghese, the then editor of that upmarket people ‘s
glossy – Society
Her first ad
campaign,the somewhat notorious MR coffee campaign.In which she was
teamed with model–now-actor Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salman Khan.
She did press
campaigns for Pearl Pet , Bare Necessities , Mafatlal, Benzer and has
modeled for Arena , Tanishq, Tribhuvandhas Bhimji , De Beers.
Her plus point are
that in a field of temperamental divas and petulant clotheshorses she
is a thorough professional and has make it a point to be on time no
matter how early in the morning,and never throw temper tantrums on the
sets.
She loves being in
front of the camera. It’s a two-way love affair, as a camera loves her
too.
She has done some
breath taking shoots for designers Wendell Rodricks and Shahab Durazi:
and photographers like Farookh Shothia, Atul Kasbekar and Rafique
Shayed.
On the ramp,she is
oblivious everything but the feel of clothes draping her body. " I
just go up there and have a ball." she says. There have been times
when she has cut herself and bled, even twisted her ankle without
realizing it.
Nothing gets to her
more than having to run around for payments.
She married in
Arbaaz Khan February 1999.
Meanwhile the tube
beckoned and she has been through the mandatory MTV hostess stage with
her show being called club MTV.
She always asks for
something totally different whenever she renewes her contract with
MTV.
She at present hosts
MTV Love Line along with Cyrus Brocha.
She is a big hit on
the small screen and has been seen dancing with Jas Arora in the video
of ‘ong Gori Nalon Ishq Mitha’.
She was also seen
with Shahrukh Khan dancing to the hit tune of Chhaiya Chhaiya in Mani
Ratnam’s ‘Dil Se’,
She certainly does
not see herself in show biz in the future. She definitely will be
doing certain business, preferably running a restaurant. |
