He was born in
Scotland and lived in England for seven years before moving to India.
He fell in love with
a girl called Ann,whom he wanted to marry when he was just six and
still believes it was love!
He is a Maharastrian
brahmin, who began his career as an Electrical Engineer.
He was rejected by Graveria Suiting s because they felt that he was to
young to wear a suit!!
His big break came,
when he was offered a modeling assignment. A shirt ad -Thackersay's
Fabrics – and Rs.50, 000 later, he was the most wanted man in town (in
more ways than one)
He is perhaps the
first male supermodel from India.
He has been and will
be for a very long time the heartthrob of millions of Indians.
His success secret
has been to do what
nobody else wanted
to, and to wear outfits that designers have a hard time getting other
models to try on. "You have to stand out," he says.
He has a hypnotic
effect on people and can make anyone feel very comfortable with him be
it a lay man or a business tycoon.
He believes that
"Acting is innate with everybody. You act everyday, in different
situations. all the time ".
He further believes
that everything happens in its own good time, thats how it happened
with him, he did not choose to be a model, it happened, similarly with
acting and the same with films.
He also has a talent
for acting.
His first foray in
serials, "A Mouthful of Sky" was done because he believed it would be
a good experience.
He was also a success
in other serials like
"Daayra" "Magarita"
the Indian version of Laura Esquivels novel "Like Water for Chocolate"
and "Vakaalat" the Zee TV serial where he plays a shady lawyer.
His Critics feel that
he has done a better job acting as compared to other good looking
models who have tried there hand at acting at the end of their
modeling careers and made a fool of themselves.
He says," Now I'm
ready. I feel I have something to offer. Though I must admit I would
not like to work with a director who
does not know what he
is doing.
His advise to young
people "You have to use everything you've got to get ahead in this
world - use all your talents, take every opportunity coming your way"
