Power of Attorney

Google

There are a number of instances where because of time or geographical constraints, you may not be able to carry out certain legally binding tasks yourself. In such cases there may be a need for you to authorize some other person who can carry out your tasks, represent you in transactions etc. In the legal sense when you need to authorize someone to act on your behalf then you have to grant him a power of attorney.

Power of Attorney (POA) may be needed in various circumstances. A few common ones include:

  • To authorize someone to operate a bank account.
  • Negotiations and transactions on behalf of a company.
  • Authorising someone to make sales and purchases on your behalf
  • When you want to sell something you own but cannot be physically present to supervise the transaction.

There are certain procedures governing the use of power of attorneys. This section will highlight a few of the relevant laws and procedure with respect to power of attorneys as well as provide a few sample power of attorney.
