Moong dal Chilas
Tortillas made out of moong dal
Ingredients
For the chilas:
2 cups moong ( yellow dal) dal
4 green chilies, chopped
A pinch asafoetida
Salt according to taste
Oil for cooking
For the stuffing:
2 boiled potatoes, cut into
cubes
1 cup steamed green peas1 tsp.
cumin seeds
2 green chilies, chopped
1 to 2 tablespoons amchur(
Mango powder) powder
1 tbsp. oil
Serve with
Serve hot with green and sweet
chutneys.
Method
1.For the chilas, soak
the moong dal for at least 3 hours.
2.Add the green chilies and 1 cup of water and grind in a blender.
3.Add the asafetida and salt.
4.For the stuffing, heat the oil and fry the cumin seeds until they
crackle.
5.Add the remaining ingredients and cook for a few minutes. Mash.
6.To proceed, spread a little moong dal mixture on a hot non stick
frying pan about a size of a chapati/ tortilla.
7.Smear a little oil around the mixture and cook for a few seconds.
8.Turn over and cook the other side till light brown.
9.Put some stuffing in the center and fold.
10.Repeat for the remaining mixture.
