Our Lives

our lives,poem our lives,our lives poem,poetry our lives,our lives poetry

What smug little boxes are our lives
With tiny windows latched
To shut out the rain;
The scorching sun cannot get past the walls
The storm lashes futile outside.

You have insurance to protect your future
You have measured out your lives in spoons
Tasted and appraised the safe pleasures
And rejected the possible pains.

Won’t your bubble burst one day?
Won’t the storm, the rain and the wind come rushing in?
Perhaps then you will discover the endless sky,
The clinging earth moistened by rain…
The joyous tumult of this uncertain life!
